So a lot of you may know that I've recently moved to Nottingham to pursue what i'm passionate about . Im enjoying the city life here os far , its a big move from Galway where I was previously at university but its for the better in the long run !
I've gotten into a routine here and am settling well at last, its tough being away from my family , close friend's and girlfriend but thanks to facetime we stay in touch every day . Seeing this is my second time starting university I wanted to make it evident that I make the most of my time here and have been working so hard recently to give myself the most opportunities I can to advance in the fashion world .
So in February I received an email from the university stating there was am internship opportunity available to students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of fashion promotion and communication and also to the fashion marketing students. I saw this as one of my chances to make an immersion on someone of my diverse creative background which would stand out as an applicant . After spending some time writing my cover letter to sell myself the best way I finally managed send it off within a few hours of receiving the email . I was not getting my hopes up at all because there are so many students throughout the years of the 2 courses, i'm guessing roughly 600-700 with the combination of both years with maybe 1/3rd applying for the internship so there was a lot of competition !. I didn't receive any news after that for about 3 weeks and the sight of getting the internship was further and further so I took it on the chin and gave myself a pat on the back for putting myself out there either way because I always try to look at the positives from these situations .
It was about 3 weeks later just as I lost hope, I was in the library and received an email from the assistant manger of the agency saying they 'loved' my application and cover letter due to standing out from my broad range of achievements in life and was asked for a call interview that week .. The call interview went ahead and I tried my best to put a lot go energy and enthusiasm into the phone call at my best so I would make my impression evident . The end of the call seemed pretty hopeful and she seemed happy with me so I tried to contain myself form getting overly excited as it was not official that I received the internship just yet !.
later that evening I got a call with an offer to work as a 'creative assistant' for the PR company Kay Flawless which is based in London therefore the internship is remote. I can literally work form my bed with a cuppa, couldn't ask form anything better as it works around my university schedule as well so its a win win !. The internship is 3 months long so I hope to make a lasting impression which will hopefully turn into a full time summer job but lets take it day by day and see what happens !.
