HOPELESSLY HOOKED

ZINE PUBLISHING

Our in-depth research into the TSPR brand and associated brand stories to gain a greater understanding of their values.

Their political views and their relation to ‘Revolution’ are a key part of their identity. This is something we worked toward representing.

CREATIVE CONCEPTS

Some points that informed our creative concepts include:

Individuals do not 'find' anything anymore in the age of the internet and social media, we need a Discovery Revolution.

Celebrities and Influencers SELL things to us, and we have become dopamine addicts who can't stop scrolling.

We don't physically do things anymore like go out and buy a record, go and watch a film, or stop and enjoy art thanks to the digital shift of the 21st century.

Images documenting the re-discovery of culture, as well as references to the rebellious Stone Roses and Dystopian film classics.

To promote picking something up and reading, there is a lot of text material, yet it is handwritten for a more personal touch.

Reading lists, first-time poems, and other literary pieces comment on our Orwellian nightmarish society.

Primary Research led, Following the idea of discovery we asked people to make a zine however they wanted

Each of these zines are completely unique and different

They are our creative concepts, on the left.

Combination of all creative concepts to emphasise idea of discovery - interactive, physical, encouraging the idea of play.

Physically playable - you want to hold the pages and play with the folds

Images all different.

All pages different.

All content in the same bracket but each one of the 10 zines will be slightly different to the next, element of exclusivity and you never know what you are going to get.

Discovery in the sense of childlike wonder. Like kinder eggs etc.

FINAL CONCEPT

OUTCOME

Poems - short inspirational poems and perhaps to also inspire one to write poetry of their own

Not for everyone.

Exterior like a classified document - re-discovery revolution.

Each page is disconnected from the next - some poems, illustrations, pages from a George Orwell's essay, snippets of Russ’ interview responses, music recommendations,

Holding and flicking through the unusual zine is discovery.

Some of the images subtle reference scenes from classic dystopian films,

Some are against a harsh brick wall - mugshots from the thought police

Some of the images are random; inexplicable, the viewer discovers randomness.
