As I had previously mentioned as I have previously mentioned in one of my recent blog posts about sustainability in Ireland the fashion system is broken. Globally we produce up to 100,000,000,000 pieces of clothing a year, taking a terrible toll on the planet and people who make them. What's worse, new reports predicts the apparel and footwear industry Will grow by 81% by 2030, putting it on predicted strain on already devastated planetary resources. Consumers today are aware of the harmful chemical used within fashion retail and calling for a change to the second most polluted industry.
It is easier said than done to address this issue with your selected retailer personally if I were working in the store that that nice so a sustainable line I would bring up these issues with the environment to the manager even though 90% of the time what make a difference I feel that if we as a population this issue will be a lot more powerful.
A campaign would be a great idea to be integrated into retail stores this would highlight and justify the issues we are having in the world today spreading the message can be very powerful and if big stores agree to take part in this campaign it would spread the message globally and urge other brands to do the same.
There is always going to be people that Will not agree the certain things and in the long run the stores may lose certain criteria of customers but boss new consumer profiles will be integrated and stores will see a wider range of consumers.
An idea would be to start slow and slowly progress into the campaign tell customers that what every purchase they make 10% Will go to a specific sustainability charity are they will reduce the carbon footprint.
Capital cities would be the main aims in terms of promotion for this campaign. Cities like Paris London Milan would be great starting points as they the heart of fashion in 2020 and would naturally elongate to the smaller cities based around these capitals.
I think the campaign will be a lot more successful if it was in-store rather than digitally. Why? Because immersive experiences and interactive ones are a lot more memorable and than Digital ones !
