I recently watched a series of episodes released by BBC on perfume in todays world. It featured behind the scenes of the tasks which were required to make each scent , the market strategies and the narration of a scent. How stories are created through a single scent is amazing !.
Episode one featured the creation of a new fragrance for a large American clothing chain which entailed a lot of hard work . Th project was to asses the liquid version of the term "Liquid Rock 'n' Roll"by "pushing the boundaries between music and fragrance". The completed scent was made up of top empowering scents which resmbedld a rock n roll effect to the consumer.

The design of these bottles of perfume can take up to several months due to the importance of the connection with the customer and visual aesthetic of the bottle making it the key feature for successful marketing. The documentary quoted Chad Levin is "so hot that if he was a bottle himself , you'd drop him".

In Paris , the old perfume houses , represented here by Guerlain (founded in 1828), were losing market share. Thierry Wasser showed recipes of some of Guerlain's most famous perfumes . His creation of a new scent based on a beloved classic, felt "emotionally dangerous," he said. It was a fantastic documentary and gave me a real insight of how important marketing is in todays fashion and business industry !.
